victim of -negative thinking



Negative thinking is a thought process where people tend to find the worst in everything, or reduce their expectations by considering the worst possible scenarios. Negative thoughts drain you of energy and keep you from being in the present moment. The more you give in to your negative thoughts, the stronger they become. This approach can joined disappointment in some situations, but negative thinking tends to manifest into a pattern that can cause tremendous stress, worry, or sadness overtime. The opposite approach would be positive thinking, approaching situations or circumstances with a positive altitude.

Common examples of Negative Thinking


  • ·         A new paying job would be a good thing except for the change in the commute and possible reduction in health insurance and having to know all new people.
  • ·         I can’t imagine why anyone would want to live in a great big house with all that land. The rental would be very high and cutting that grass.
  • ·         You may say you want a cool sporty car, but I can’t imagine paying huge money on that car insurance and getting stopped all time by cops.
  • ·         Owning a king size bed is good but it just takes up the whole room and the sheets are really expensive.
  • ·         I won a brand new computer to replace my old broken one, but it has the new operating system that I have to learn now and I don’t have time for that.
  • ·         Dogs could be great companions and really brighten things up if they didn’t make such a mess and noise.
  • ·         It might be nice that I ‘am graduating at the top of my class, but really what difference does it make when I have to repay all the study loans

Effects of negative thinking


  • ·         Less energy instead of more energy
  • ·         Less peace of mind instead of more peace of mind
  • ·         Less success instead of more success
  • ·         Less confidence instead of greater confidence
  • ·         Less health benefits instead of more health benefits
  • ·         Less enjoyable social interactions instead of more enjoyable social interactions
  • ·         Less feelings of strength of  instead greater feelings of strength
  • ·         Less worthwhile life instead of a more worthwhile life.
